WHO WE ARE
Lighthouse Productions Inc. is the umbrella company that produces the Grand Bank Regional Theatre Festival. We are a not-for-profit professional theatre company located on the South Coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, on the Burin Peninsula. We produce a summer season of 8 productions: 4 main stage shows and 8 secondary shows which run in rep from the first of July until the end of August. We are the third largest professional summer theatre festival in the province. We are sixteen years old and entering our 8th year of development as a professional company. We are a member of the NL Alliance of Professional Theatre Producers; we network with and support all other professional companies in our province. We actively lobby for the Status of the Artist in our province. We articulate and practice stringent and unique creation, rehearsal and performance methods. In Our Own Words is how we title our artistic vision. We take traditional language and storytelling forms and combine them with innovative and exploratory theatrical methods.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
We are a not-for-profit professional theatre company. We create, develop and produce vital and dynamic Newfoundland-Labrador theatrical works, with a special emphasis on the stories and heritage of the Burin Peninsula. We are an integral part of the Province’s professional artistic community. We maintain a performance space in an intimate historical venue. We contribute to the development of the emerging artistic community of our region and province. We are engaged in a significant educational outreach with our playwrighting competition for junior high and senior high school students on the Burin Peninsula and with our efforts on behalf of The Cassie Brown Project.
OUR VISION STATEMENT
We work to be a cultural destination attraction on the Burin Peninsula. We are dedicated to becoming an important part of the development of the arts and cultural tourism in our province with the development of a Conservatory for Drama and the Traditional Performing Arts. We are working toward satisfying the demands of our increasing audiences with an expanded theatre season and an increased number of weekly performances. We will be a major employer of artists and related theatre staff in this region and province. We consider good theatre to be a phenomenon which is not confined to major centres.
